Your voicecast
We have found that there is no ‘completely right’ voice tape for every occasion – or for every casting. If a specific type of presentation is requested, it’s a good idea to include it on the tape.

Many years in the entertainment industry have shown that the following points will certainly help you to market your talents better.
  • First state your name clearly in your natural voice
  • Each individual item on your tape should be no more than 11⁄2 to 2 minutes long.
  • Aim for between 3 and 10 pieces as above.
  • Only include impersonations and impressions if you are good at them (anyone outside your family will give the most honest opinions!)
  • Speak clearly and listen back to your tape objectively. Remember that if is not ‘your very best’, it may not get further that the person who opens the office mail. Don’t rush it.
  • It’s a good idea to include some humour. It could brighten their day as well as get you the job. Smile while you are recording, the listener can always tell
  • Label the tape. It’s amazing how many people forget to do this, with both audio and video tapes. And they are surprised when they don’t get their tapes returned. Label the tape (and the box) clearly with your name, address, and telephone number.
  • While everyone expects their tape to be valued and ‘treasured’ by the recipient, this is not always the case. It is therefore a good idea to include a return envelope or at least return postage to get it back to you safely.
